Biographical/Historical:     John T. Bryan (1830-1914) was born in Washington County, Florida and served in the Confederate Army from July 1862 through May 1865. He enlisted in Albany, Georgia, and served as a private with Company D, 1st Georgia Regiment and was discharged on April 26, 1865, after taking the oath of allegiance. Bryan was also a labor farmer with his wife, Mary (Armistead, m. 1866), and son, David, in Marianna, Florida.

Summary:     This collection consists of records relating to John T. Bryan's service in the Confederate Army, 1st Georgia Regiment. Also included is a bill of sale for three enslaved persons - Temp (Tempy) and her son, Dick, and daughter, Sal - from Isaiah Hornady to John Bryan, father of John T. Bryan, in Laurens County, Georgia, in 1822.
