Summary:     This series contains the notice books of public hearings for the Florida Public Service Commission and its predecessor agencies from 1913 to 1991.  As part of its duties the Commission was required to file notices of public hearings.  The notices in these volumes are transcriptions of the original notices sent to companies to inform them of the hearings.  Prior to August, 1948, notices numbers are assigned; after that docket numbers are used.  There is a name index of companies notified at the beginning of each volume except volumes 34 through 37 which do not have indexes. Included are railroads, common carriers, canal companies, telephone and telegraph companies, and public utilities.
The notices deal with a variety of subjects.  Frequently cited are applications for certificates of public convenience and necessity including authorization to begin, revise or drop rates; to transport general or specific commodities over designed routes; to change weight limitations; to operate auto transport companies; and to build, abandon, or remove structures.  Also included are formal complaints and petitions, such as applications to discontinue station agencies, or to ask the Commission to order the telephone company to extend services.
