Biographical/Historical:     Souvenir booklets were produced by the major railway and steamboat companies as memorabilia and advertising from the 1880s until early in the twentieth century.
Summary:     This collection contains four souvenir books containing illustrations and photographs from around the state of Florida. Two of the books were created for the Florida East Coast Railway.  These contain photographs of St. Augustine, Jacksonville, Ormond-by-the Sea, Titusville, Rockledge, Eau Gallie, Melbourne Lake Worth, Indian River and Biscayne Bay.  The third book, Florida The Land of Sunshine shows photographs of St. Augustine, Palm Beach, Daytona and Rockledge. The fourth book was produced for the Hunter Land Company. It is entitled The Heart of the Kissimmee Prairie. It contains a photographic representation  of how to take a plot of land in the Kissimmee area from their company and create a truck farm with photographs depicting the process. IT is followed with photographs of successful crops grown in that soil type. The last photograph in the booklet shows the progress of a railroad bridge under construction across the St. Johns River.
