Biographical/Historical:     Helen Louise Terwilleger Zebley is the great-great-granddaughter of Dr. Seth French, a pioneer Florida settler in the 1870's. He was originally from Potsdam, New York. In 1984, Zebley published a book titled, "Southern Shoots from Northern Roots." It covers French's career as a surgeon, state senator from Volusia County, commissioner of immigration, and as one of the founders of Orange City and an early citizen of Sanford, Florida. The book includes photos and genealogical materials on allied families and other early pioneers settlers in Volusia and Seminole Counties, Florida.

Summary:     The collection contains the genealogical research materials used and produced by Helen Zebley for her book "Southern Shoots from Northern Roots." The documents contains marriage, birth, and death records; genealogical research materials and charts; and newspaper clippings for the following families:  French, Leavitt, Terwilleger, Ellis, Guyot, Thurston, and Fowler.
