Biographical/Historical:     Escambia County was created by an act of the Legislative Council on July 21, 1821.  It originally encompassed "all the country lying between the Perdido and Suwaney Rivers."  On February 18, 1842 the Legislative Council created Santa Rosa from a portion of Escambia County.  Thereafter, Escambia County consisted of the land from the Alabama line to the Escambia River.  The Clerk of the Circuit Court in each county serves as the official custodian of deed, marriage, and probate records.
Summary:     The series consists of a microfilm copy of marriage records of Escambia County, Florida from 1822-1827.  The record books document when the couple applied for the marriage license, when they were married, and who performed the ceremony.  Most volumes contain an index.
