The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     Alachua County was created by an act of the Legislative Council on December 29, 1824.  Created out of St. Johns and Duval counties, its boundaries underwent several changes until 1925.  The Clerk of the Circuit Court in each county serves as the official custodian of deed, marriage, and probate records.
Summary:     The series consists of a microfilm copy of probate records of Alachua County, Florida from 1848 to 1948.  The materials include a record of wills, bonds and letters, administrator's bonds, inventories, appraisements, settlements, an index of estates, and an index to adjudicated cases.  It should be noted that only some of the materials are indexed.
