Summary:     This microfilm collection contains the 1900 Indian Territory Federal Census for numerous American Indian Tribes, including the Seminole, Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, and Creek Indians (see the roll list for the full list of enumerated tribes).
The data on the rolls usually includes the name of the head of the household, other members of the household, their race, ages, sex, relationship to the head of household, birthplace (state), occupation, and education.  Of particular interest are the Special Inquiries relating to Indians which list the tribe of the Indian, the tribe of the father, the tribe of the mother, the percentage of mixed blood, and citizenship.
This series is indexed by the 1900 Indian Soundex, Series S1795. Instructions for using the Soundex are available in the Soundex coding books in the research room.  Basically, the Soundex Index gives the researcher the name of the Indian Nation and the Enumeration District (E.D.), along with sheet, volume and line numbers. Once these values are known, a researcher may then go to the appropriate roll for Series S1796.
