Summary:     This microfilm publication contains the census of Cherokee Indians east of the Mississippi taken in 1835.  Information on the census includes head of family; residence; number of males and females in household; number of slaves; whites connected by marriage; number of farms, acres in cultivation, and horses; bushels of wheat and corn raised; bushels of wheat and corn sold and income from same; number of mills and ferry boats; number of farmers or merchants over 18 years; readers in English and Cherokee; half-breeds; quadroons, full blooded, mixed Catawbys, mixed Spaniards, mixed negroes; weavers, spinners; reservees and descendents of reservees; and remarks.
    At the beginning of the reel is a name index which references the page number in the census.  The names in the census are very difficult to read; the names in the index are clearly legible.
