Biographical/Historical:
Summary: Tapes and discs may include full committee, subcommittee, and conference committee meetings.  The tapes and discs contain discussion of legislation pertaining to each committee's area of specialization.
A use-copy has been made from the original tape and disc.  Tape length varies from 60-minute to 120-minute tapes, although most are 90-minute tapes.  There are no transcripts or indexes to the tapes and discs.  Recording quality may vary from committee to committee and by time frame.

Reel to reel tapes have been duplicated to cassette tapes and are in the process of being inserted into the collection.  See the individual committee container listing for a list of those reel to reels that have been converted to cassette tape.

Additional Physical Form:
Reproduction Note: A number of House Committees contained reel-to-reel tapes and VHS video tapes in addition to cassette tapes.  A reproduction project was completed in which the VHS videotapes were duplicated and the duplicate videotape placed in the individual committee box.  The original videotapes were then removed and placed in boxes 1271 and 1272.
The reel-to-reel tapes were also transferred to cassette tape.  The duplicate cassette tapes were then placed in each committee box.  If there is room, the reel-to-reel tape is also in the individual committee box.  But in several instances there was not enough room in the commitee box, then the reel-to-reel tape(s) were removed and placed into boxes 1273, 1274, and 1275.
