The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Summary:     The series contains statistical reports prepared by the Florida State Hospital for submission to the federal government for the Census for Public Mental Hospitals for 1933 and 1942 to 1962. Reports for the year 1933 are in three bound volumes:  Deaths, Discharges, and First Admissions.  Each volume contains information on specific patients including name, race, sex, date of admission, length of time in hospital, and diagnosis.  The First Admissions volume also contains information on the education, environment, and economic condition of the patient.  Reports from the years 1942-1962 are in draft form; no final copy is included.  These reports give no patient names, but rather give statistical counts by age at admission and by mental disorders grouped into several categories.
