The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Florida Apprenticeship Council was established as a department of the Florida Industrial Commission in 1947 (Ch. 23934, Laws).  In 1953, the Council became an advisory body to the Department of Apprenticeship in the Florida Industrial Commission (1953, Ch. 28037).  The Council was placed under the Department of Commerce in 1969 (Ch. 69-106, Laws).  It was transferred to the Dept. of Labor and Employment Security in 1979 (Ch. 79-397, Laws).  Its duties are to develop policies for apprenticeship programs; to establish standards for apprenticeship agreements and training; to regulate apprenticeship registration; and to resolve any apprenticeship issues.The Apprenticeship Council also served as a member of the Florida State Apprenticeship Conference which met annually to coordinate apprenticeship and training programs among various agencies.
Summary:     The series contains the records of the Florida Apprenticeship Council from 1950 to 1981.  The records include mostly Council correspondence and minutes and agenda of the Council and the Florida Apprenticeship Conference.  Although the Council was created in 1941, there are no records until 1950.
