The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Attorney General is the chief State legal officer (Chapter 16, Florida Statute).  The office of the Attorney General provides legal services required by any state department.  The Attorney General renders legal opinions on request to government agencies; reports on laws; directs state attorneys; and receives supreme court reports.  The Attorney General appears on behalf of the state in all suits in the District Courts of Appeal and the Supreme Court in which the state has an interest.  In the 1969, Dept. of Legal Affairs assumed the duties of the office of the Attorney General (Ch. 69-106, Laws).

Summary:     The series contains reference case files for Supreme Court cases involving the State of Florida. Also included is correspondence from the Attorney General's Office about the filings and cases.
