This included the existing Department, the Florida Consumers' Council, the Office of Consumer Services, the Florida Board of Forestry, the State Soil and Water Conservation Board, the Board of Commissioners of the Everglades Fire Control District, and various technical and advisory councils and committees (Ch. 69-106, Laws).

It administers the "Fresh From Florida" program, develops recipes using Florida products, operates state farmers markets, promotes and issues permits for county fairs and livestock shows, and assists producers in making production and marketing decisions. Within the division is the Bureau of Education and Communication, responsible for public outreach on behalf of the department.
