The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Alachua County Library District is an independent special district and the sole provider of public library services to more than 270,000 Alachua County citizens in urban and rural communities. Its mission is to build a better community by creating opportunities to participate, connect, and discover. As part of the its Adult Literacy Program, the Library District offers a Conversational English program that matches English language learners with conversation partners. The Conversational English program also hosts social mixers, an oral history program, and an art show for English language learners and their families.

Summary:     This collection consists of oral history interviews created as part of the English is Power Oral History Program at the Alachua County Library District. The interviews are conversations between English language learners and their volunteer English coaches as part of the Conversational English program. The interviews discuss the participants' immigration stories and their experiences in the program. The collection includes audio recordings and transcripts of the oral histories, as well as release forms.

    The collection also contains electronic records that supplement the oral history interviews and provide more information about the program. These records include photographs, press release, PowerPoint presentations, and videos.
