The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Florida Legislature created the Division of Elections as part of the Department of State in 1969 (Chapter 69-106, Laws of Florida). Prior to 1969, the Office of Secretary of State maintained election records. The Division administers all elections (primary, special, and general); publishes and maintains the Florida Administrative Code; and serves as the official records custodian of oaths and bonds, county ordinances, municipal charters and annexations, proclamations, extraditions, executive orders, and the official laws of Florida.

Summary:     The series contains commission certificates for individuals appointed and elected to various boards, commissions, working groups, and other types of governing committees. The three types of commission files are: Appointed: Senate Confirmed; Appointed: Senate Non-Comfirmed; and Elected.
