Biographical/Historical:     DeSoto City was established in DeSoto County around 1915 and later incorporated in Highlands County as "the town of DeSoto City" in 1923. E.J. Etheredge served as the town's first mayor. The remnants of DeSoto City exist as a rural neighborhood in southern Sebring.

Summary:     This series contains the meeting minutes for the Desoto City Commission from its incorporation into Highlands County in 1923 to 1962. Minutes cover subjects such as the official incorporation vote and subsequent city official elections, matters of city infrastructure, and residential concerns, among a multitude of other issues.

    Also included in this series is a collection of DeSoto City's city ordinances No. 1 through No. 71. These include the original copy of each ordinance and additional copies of select ordinances with notes and/or signatures by the mayor, city attorney, and police chief.
