Biographical/Historical:     Jeff Kottkamp served as Florida's lieutenant governor under Governor Charlie Crist from 2007 to 2011. As Lieutenant Governor, he served as chair of Florida's Children's Cabinet, Space Florida, and the Florida Sports Foundation, and he exercised oversight over the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, Governor's Office of Drug Control, and the Governor's Film and Entertainment Office.

    Born in Indiana on November 12, 1960, Kottkamp and his family moved to Cape Coral, Florida in 1977. Kottkamp participated in Boy's State as a high school student, was active in student government while earning his Associate of Arts Degree from Edison College, then earned a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Political Science from Florida State University. In 1987 he earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida College of Law. In the 2000, 2002, and 2004 elections, Kottkamp was elected to represent District 74 in the Florida House of Representatives, focusing on such issues as tax reduction, education, and violent crime.

Summary:     This series contains the outgoing correspondence of Lieutenant Governor Jeff Kottkamp, often with assistance from his staff members. The records are primarily form response letters, but also include drafts, templates and tracking spreadsheets. The records reflect the varied responsibilities and assignments of the Lieutenant Governor's Office during the Crist Administration, and document some of the issues about which concerned citizens would write to the Governor's Office.
