The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:   The Division of Historical Resources is part of the Florida Department of State's Office of Cultural, Historical and Information Programs (OCHIP) in the Office of the Secretary of State. The Division was created in 1986 (Chapter 86-183, Laws), assuming some of the functions of the Division of Archives, History and Records Management. The Division is mandated to preserve historical, cultural and archaeological resources for the state of Florida. The Division includes the Bureau of Historic Preservation, the Bureau of Archaeological Research and the Director's Office.

  The Bureau of Historic Preservation conducts historic preservation programs aimed at identifying, evaluating, preserving and interpreting the historic and cultural resources of the state.

Summary:   This series documents the historical and cultural review of state lands or properties. The records consist of planning documents, project submissions, correspondence, maps and the Bureau of Historic Preservation's written comments regarding the preservation of historical resources.

  This series should include a second larger accession of similar records from the Bureau. After completing the first small transfer, the office decided to continue to maintain the rest until a later date.
