Summary:     The series contains a sample of the outgoing and incoming correspondence of the State Treasurer.  The outgoing correspondence is from 1885-1902 and 1908-1909.  It is from Treasurers E. S. Crill (1885-1888), F. J. Pons (1889-1891), E. J. Triay (1892), C. B. Collins (1893-1897), and J. B. Whitfield (1897-1902), and from Albert H. Roberts (1908-1909), a clerk under Treasurer W.V. Knott.  The incoming correspondence is from 1858 to 1904.  It also includes one letter dated 1847.
    The correspondence is in regards to the various duties of the Treasurer.  Some of the correspondence comes from real estate brokers and banking institutions.  Also included is correspondence regarding the sale of swamp and overflow lands.  After 1900, the bulk of the incoming correspondence is from insurance companies concerning the Treasurer's duties as the Insurance Commissioner responsible for supervising and regulating the insurance industries in Florida.
