Biographical/Historical:     In 1927, the owner of the Benson Springs Hotel in Enterprise, Florida, an unincorporated community in Volusia County, started a petition to rename the town after his hotel. The unpopular name change only lasted until 1937 when townspeople circulated another petition to change the name back to Enterprise. That same year, the hotel was razed to make room for the Florida United Methodist Children's Home.


Summary:     This collection consists of a scrapbook with approximately 60 photographs of Benson Springs Middle and High School from the early 1930s, including photos of faculty, student classes, sports teams, a field trip to Gainesville, campus buildings, and local sites and businesses such as the Benson Springs Pier and Hotel and Orphanage Campus. Also included are typed school memorandums, activities, menus, programs, school news circa 1932, and records related to a commencement ceremony and field day.
