The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) was created in 2011 (Ch. 2011-142).  Portions of the Agency for Workforce Innovation (AWI), Department of Community Affairs (DCA), as well as the Office of Tourism Trade and Economic Development (OTTED) were transferred to DEO. DEO promotes economic opportunities through the development of policies and strategies beneficial to the state's workforce and communities.  The agency is responsible for increasing national and global competitiveness.

Summary:     This series consists of records created and maintained by the Executive Director's Office within the Department of Economic Opportunity. It primarily consists of correspondence with the department's executive staff, the governor and others regarding corporate and small business development in Florida. The records document the various actions and responsibilities of that office, including administration of state and federal projects, management of public-private partnerships and state agencies, workforce development, and international trade and business cooperation.
