Biographical/Historical:     In 1994, the Office of the Chief Inspector General was created in Section 14.32, Florida Statutes. The office is responsible for promoting accountability, integrity and efficiency in state government. The Chief Inspector General is responsible for monitoring the activities of the Offices of Inspectors General in state agencies that are under the jurisdiction of the Governor. The Chief Inspector General reports directly to the Governor both administratively and functionally.

The audit function is an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve the Office of the Governor's operations or operations funded by the Office of the Governor. In carrying out the investigative duties, the Chief Inspector General initiates, conducts, supervises and coordinates investigations designed to detect, deter, prevent and eradicate fraud, waste, mismanagement, misconduct and other abuses in government.
