Biographical/Historical:     Established in 1989 by the Museum of Florida History (MFH) through a grant from the Smithsonian Institution's "Regional Workshop Program," Community Classroom Consortium (CCC) is a coalition of cultural, scientific, natural history and civic organizations in north Florida and south Georgia that provides educational experiences for the public, especially K-12 teachers and students. The purpose of CCC was to strengthen partnerships between museums, other community resources and classroom educators, and to create and provide unique learning experiences for students. In 1995, CCC became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with bylaws and an elected board of directors. The Smithsonian no longer sponsors the regional workshop program and the CCC is the only remaining organization established through the Smithsonian's multiyear grant initiative in the late 1980s.

Summary:     This collection documents the origins and activities of the Community Classroom Consortium from 1989 to 2014. The records include publicity and outreach materials, correspondence between members and with educational organizations, project coordination files, meeting materials, financial records, and other various documents gathered by board members and project coordinators. The CCC projects and events documented in the records include Passport for Adventure, Back to School, Resource Guides, Silent Auctions, Beyond the Blackboard and other professional development opportunities.
