Over the years, the Department has applied for and received folklife grants to further examine history and culture unique to Tarpon Springs.

Summary:   This series chronicles the efforts of the City of Tarpon Springs to document and preserve traditions of their Greek community through a National Endowment for the Arts grant. Originally awarded to the city in 1999 and completed in June 2000, the grant allowed Tarpon Springs to hire a folklorist to interview both established Greek tradition bearers and to identify and interview previously undocumented tradition bearers. Included within this series is photo slides, photo negatives, audio recordings, the final survey report and related correspondence. Taken together, the records provide insight into the grant process and the efforts of a city to preserve its heritage.
