Biographical/Historical:     John Tharp Lawrence (1872-1948) was the great grand-nephew of John Graham. John Graham was stationed in the Florida Evergaldes during the Seminole Wars.

Summary:     This collection includes correspondence between John Tharpe Lawrence, Florida Secretary of State Robert A. Gray and State Librarian William T. Cash in February 1939. The letters discuss Lawrence donating relics to the State of Florida. These relics were passed down from his great grand-uncle John Graham. Lawrence describes John Graham as having a friendly relationship with Osceola, and says the relics were given to Graham by Osceola during the Seminole Wars. John Tharpe Lawrence contacted R. A. Gray and William T. Cash in order to donate the relics to the State of Florida. Cash accepted the donation, and the last letter details Lawrence mailing the relics to Florida from his home in Delavan, Minnesota.
