Biographical/Historical:     E. L. Green was a consultant for the Department of Ancient Languages at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina. He visited Tallahassee for a month in 1901.

Summary:     This collection consists of a letter from E. L. Green to his niece, Dena, from the University of South Carolina on July 27, 1940. In this letter, Green discusses seeing an old governors' letter book in a safe during his month-long stay in Tallahassee in 1901. He recalls that he noticed the book in a pile and took it to the Secretary of State, H. Clay Crawford, who placed it in the safe.
