Biographical/Historical:     Mary Simpson Brown Archer (1821-1894) was the wife of Florida's first Secretary of State, James T. Archer. Her husband went on to hold numerous state offices during his political career before his death in 1859. After her husband's death, Mary continued to be active in local and state affairs.
Summary:     This collection includes a letter from Mary S. Archer to Adjutant General J. J. Dickinson discussing gifting original battle flags from the Civil War to the State of Florida.
