Biographical/Historical:     Richard Punnett (1924-2020) grew up in Penfield, New York and moved to California at the onset of World War II. He worked as a commercial artist and later authored several children's books for the education market. In 1972, he and his wife Yvonne moved to Ormond Beach, Florida where he continued his writing career, authoring non-fiction books about the history of Daytona Beach. Yvonne Punnett grew up in Los Angeles and worked as a secondary school teacher; her career shifted when Richard began writing his books and she took on the role of his agent.

While living in Ormond Beach, the Punnetts traveled to historical societies, libraries, cemeteries, photographic shows, and the homes of photographer descendants across Florida to compile documentation for their index of Florida photographers.

Summary:     The Richard and Yvonne Punnett research files on Florida photographers document photographers who worked in the state between 1842 and 1929. This collection includes three separate photographer indexes with documentation that ranges from basic biographical information to correspondence with the photographer's descendants, news clippings, and photographs. Of interest is the name listing in Box 1. The name listing is an extremely useful tool if searching for a specific photographer. While the indexes are not a definitive list of all photographers, they include nearly 2,000 names.
