The Department's responsibilities include management and protection of Florida's marine resources, including endangered species and their habitats; protection, restoration, and management of environmentally important lands and their ecosystems; parks and recreation; water management; and pollution control and environmental protection.

Summary:     This series consists of photographs collected and maintained by the Department of Environmental Protection and its predecessor agencies as evidence of natural beach erosion due to storms, hurricanes, and shifting tides and sands, and the mostly failed attempts at stemming shore erosion in order to build more dwellings along the beaches. Images depict locations around the state including  Pinellas County, arasota County, Holmes County, Palm Beach, Longboat Key and Miami.
