Biographical/Historical:     Frank Paul Westwood, Jr., born February 15, 1929, was a Chief Petty Officer for Damage Control with the United States Coast Guard for 36 years, and worked as a Florida Power and Light Company employee for 36 years. He was active in community and civic organizations and was particularly fond of his Amateur Radio Club of the Glades, of which he was president. He died on March 12, 2014 at the age of 85.

Summary:     This collection of photographs taken by Frank Paul Westwood, Jr. consists of about 150 negatives, and about 100 prints from those negatives, depicting scenes in the Lake Okeechobee, the Everglades, and surrounding areas. Prominent in the collection are images of Florida Power and Light Company employees, plants, substations, company events, and damage from hurricanes including the Fort Lauderdale Hurricane of 1947. The collection also includes approximately 25 images showing additional Florida Power and Light activities, an outdoor eating area (possibly managed by Hotpoint, a commercial cooling equipment company owned by General Electric), and what appears to be cooking classes for African-American women.
