Biographical/Historical:     Ann Lay was active in the Ocala Business and Professional Women's Club (BPW) and in partnerships with several other Florida BPWs, primarily in Central Florida. She also participated in events and training opportunities offered by the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs.

    In June 1919, representatives of the Miami Business Women's League and clubs in Jacksonville, Pensacola, Gainesville, Tampa, West Palm Beach, and St. Augustine met in Jacksonville and formed the Florida Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, electing delegates to a planned national meeting. At the national meeting in St. Louis, Missouri in July 1919, delegates from various states organized the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs. The clubs spread throughout Florida and other states and continue to be active in the 21st century.

Summary:     This collection consists of records that document Ann Lay's participation in activities of local, state, and national Business and Professional Women's Clubs, primarily during the 1980s. The records include programs, directories, and other records of several Florida clubs, namely the Ocala club and the Orlando, College Park, Mid-Town, and Spanish BPWs. The collection also includes packets from training and professional development opportunities that the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs offered.
