Summary:     This series contains the railroad and telegraph tax return ledgers of the Division of Ad Valorem Tax and its predecessors, the Railroad Assessment Board and the Comptroller's Office, from 1925 to 1977.  There are several gaps in the series.  Missing are returns for 1926-1929, 1931-1932, 1959-1963, 1967-1971, and 1975-1976.
    The tax returns were filed annually by all railroad and telegraph companies in Florida as required by law to show the number of miles and value of all track, terminal facilities, lots, rolling stock, and appurtenant supplies in each county and city in which it operates.
    This series is a continuation of Series 148 which contains earlier unbound tax returns.  It is related to Series 1396 which contains the railroad property tax returns from 1922 to 1952 that were filed as supplements to the tax returns in this series.
