Biographical/Historical:     The 2006 Florida Government Accountability Act required a review and justification of state agencies and their activities, including agency reports to the Legislature of their performance measures, achievements and assessments to determine if a public need existed for the continuation of a state agency and its advisory committees (Ch. 2006-146, Laws of Florida). The Legislature's Office of Program Policy Analysis and Government Accountability (OPPAGA) performed the necessary research services, or "Sunset Reviews." OPPAGA reviewed the Department of State and its agencies in 2008, and in 2011, the legislature eliminated the Sunset Review Act from the statutes.
