The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Division of Elections was created as part of the Department of State in 1969 (Ch. 69-106, Laws of Florida).  Prior to 1969, election records were maintained by the Office of the Secretary of State.  The Division administers all elections (primary, special and general); publishes and maintains the Florida Administrative Code; and serves as the official custodian of oaths and bonds, county ordinances, municipal charters and annexations, proclamations, extraditions, executive orders, and the official laws of Florida.

Summary:     This series contains records that document the administrative duties of the Office of the Director within the Division of Elections.  These records provide information about federal and state voting legislation, voter issues, election publicity and outreach programs, electronic voting, election fraud, recounts and various other related topics.  This series also includes correspondence with the public regarding the topics listed above as well as routine interactions such as voter assistance and registration, candidacy status and voter support or disagreement.
