The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Florida Legislature created the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) with enactment of the Juvenile Justice Act of 1994 (Chapter 94-209, Laws of Florida). The newly created agency absorbed the powers, funding and personnel of the HRS Division of Youth Services, and also assumed responsibility for overseeing juvenile delinquency cases and children and families in need of services (CINS/FINS) cases. DJJ is headed by a Secretary appointed by the governor and who shares leadership duties with the Deputy Secretary.

Summary:     This series consists of training manuals for juvenile probation officers, juvenile detention officers, and juvenile residential officers. Included are manuals provided to trainees as well as manuals used by the trainers. Officers trained in such areas as case management, treatment services, gang awareness, human diversity, health care, working with behavior and safety.
