Summary:     The collection consists of the correspondence between the State Librarian and members of the Library and Historical Commission from 1928 to 1969.  The correspondence between Commission member and chairman Thomas Drier, entitled Drier Correspondence (1955-1962), consists of outside correspondence which Drier deemed relevant to the State Library or the Commission and which he forwarded to the State Librarian.
The correspondence primarily documents the administrative aspects of the Commission's existance, and includes meeting schedules and agendas, travel arrangements and reimburesments, and appointment of new members.  Not all Commission members are represented.  The collection was created under State Librarians William Thomas Cash (1878-1951), Dorothy Dodd (1902-1994), and Frank William Summers (1933-), all acting in their capacity as Secretary of the Library Board and later the Library and Historical Commission.
