The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     Leon County established the Tourist Development Council under its authority as a County pursuant to Section 125.0104, Florida Statutes, to levy the tourist development tax and create a county wide agency to supervise the administration of the required tourist development plan.  The mission of the Tourist Development Council is to provide oversight and serve in an advisory capacity for local government, to provide leadership to represent the interests of local tourism stakeholders, and to enhance Leon County's tourism economy by increasing the number of overnight stays in transient lodging.



    In accordance with Section 125.0104, the Council is composed of nine members:  the current Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners or his/her designee; two elected municipal officials; three owners or operators of hotels, motels, or other tourist accommodations in the county subject to the tax; and three persons involved in the tourist industry who have demonstrated an interest in tourist development, but who are not owners or operators of hotels, motels or other tourist accommodations in the County and subject to the tax.  The Department of Tourism Development serves as the county staff liaison for the Tourist Development Council.

    The Council's advertising efforts include development of market-specific media placements, direct mail campaigns, and production of related materials to support tourism sales and servicing efforts. The public relations program is focused on generating regional, national, and international publicity to spotlight Tallahassee as a visitor destination.  Public relations efforts include media development, radio merchandising, and special event promotion support.



Summary:     This series consists of produced promotional videos, raw video footage, and photographic slides  taken to promote tourism in the Tallahassee-Leon County area.  Video formats include Beta sp and VHS video tapes.
