The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     The Florida Highway Patrol, a division of the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, was created by the Florida Legislature in 1939. It was one of two divisions of the Deptartment of Public Safety, the other being the Division of State Motor Vehicles and License. The FHP was charged to enforce highway laws and regulations. They also participated in public education programs regarding highway safety.
Summary:     This series consists of various auto accident photographs, most of which are from Leon County. Some of these photographs were used in a public exhibit on highway safety.  There are also several images of a highway accident in which Lee County Judge Hiram Bryant was killed.  NOTE: many of these photographs contain disturbing images.
