Biographical/Historical:     Charles "Chuck" Barron was a Tallahassee-based photographer who spent much of his career working for the Florida State News Bureau, the promotional section of the Florida State Development Commission. In the governmental reorganization of 1969, the Florida Legislature rolled the commission into the Department of Commerce. Barron continued to take photographs for the State of Florida as well as for freelance work.

Summary:     This collection consists of color and black-and-white negatives (with print copies) taken by Charles Barron for the State of Florida's Development Commission (later the Department of Commerce) as well as for private use and various clients. The collection also contains fourteen 16mm silent color films concerning oystering, wildlife, crab canning, auto racing, the Everglades, and Barron family events. Each film runs approximately two and a half minutes.
