Biographical/Historical:     Henry W. Gibbons (1860-1918) was Chief Clerk of the Florida East Coast Railway's Overseas Extension. Born in England, Gibbons married Elizabeth Thomton (1872-1960) and they emigrated to the United States around 1885. They lived in New Jersey and had several children before moving to Florida in the early 1900s. Their four children were Mildred, Katherine, Douglas, and Frederick. The Gibbons family lived in Marathon (Monroe County), Florida. Henry Gibbons died in Miami, Florida, in 1918.

Summary:     This collection consists of family pictures and hurricane destruction photographs. The pictures, taken during the 1910s and 1920s, depict various places such as Homestead, Miami, Key West, and Bayonne, New Jersey. The collection also includes family postcards, school pictures from the Marathon School, and vacation photos in Asheville, North Carolina, and Madison, New Jersey, in addition to many photographs of the Gibbons children.
