Summary:     This collection consists of photographic postcards of several trips to Florida by two groups of Ohio travelers, who apparently traveled together. Photographs of the Whitney family (Kathryn and Elmer Whitney with young son Donald) document three separate trips to Florida: one from 1929 (April 10-May 14) and two from 1930 (February 12-16 and May 1-21). Images include Jacksonville, Mayport, Fort George Island, Silver Springs, Cocoa, St. Petersburg, Tarpon Springs, Everglades, Green Cove Springs, and Hastings. Photographs of three men (George Armstead, Carlton Armstead, and Carl Elmore) who traveled to Florida in January and February 1929 include Jacksonville, Fernandina, Green Cove Springs, and St. Augustine. These images document not only the tourist attractions of Florida during the Great Depression, but also the routes and activities of typical tin-can tourists.
