Biographical/Historical:     Fuller Warren was born on October 3, 1905, in Blountstown, Florida. He attended the University of Florida and, while still a student, represented Calhoun County in the Florida House of Representatives in 1927. He received his law degree from Cumberland University and moved to Jacksonville, Florida, to practice law in 1930. He won election to the Jacksonville City Council for three terms, serving from 1931-1937. He represented Duval County in the Florida House of Representatives in 1939, and he lost in the Democratic primary for Governor in 1940.

The outbreak of World War II interrupted Warren's political career; from 1942 to 1945 he served as a navy gunnery officer in the Pacific. Warren won the Democratic primary for Governor in 1948 in a runoff and defeated his Republican opponent, Bert Acker. After his term, he retired to Miami and died in 1973.

Summary:     This collection consists of 9 black and white images of Fuller Warren's gubernatorial inauguration in Tallahassee, held on January 4, 1949. The images depict the parade viewing stage, the inaugural speech, meeting the outgoing Governor Millard Caldwell and his Cabinet, and the receiving line for the inaugural ball.
