Biographical/Historical:     Robert Alonzo Astley (1871-1945) was born in Michigan, where he married Clara J. Maier (1880-1975) and had two children: Rosemary and Robert M. In the 1920s, the Astley family moved to Miami, Florida. There they owned and operated the Astley Hotel while Robert M. attended Miami Central School.

Summary:     The collection consists of 11 photographic postcards and eight photographs of the Astley family in Miami. Images include studio portraits of the family, the Astley Hotel, beach bathing, the Hardie's Bathing Casino, and a 1930 class photo of Miami Central School. The State Archives of Michigan originally housed these images.
