Biographical/Historical:     Milton A. "Al" Galbraith (1944-2011) was an avid hobby photographer and prolific writer based in Clearwater, Florida. Born in Corbin, Kentucky, Galbraith moved with his parents to Tarpon Springs, Florida, in 1950. The family moved a few years later to Clearwater. Galbraith graduated from Florida State University in 1966 and then served a few years in the U.S. Army. He returned to Tallahassee after active duty and worked as a legislative intern for the Florida Legislature under Representative Bob Graham. He also worked as a legislative analyst and staff attorney with the Florida Senate Education Committee. He later worked as City Attorney for the cities of Boca Raton (ca. 1979-1985), Clearwater (1985-late 1990s), and St. Petersburg (2000-2011).

Summary:     This collection consists of approximately 110 slides and 2 digital images taken by Milton A. "Al" Galbraith, Jr., including images of governors, legislators, government buildings, the Columns (one of Tallahassee's oldest houses, constructed ca. 1830), Prince Achille Murat's tomb and historical marker, St. Marks Lighthouse, and some nature scenes of Lake Bradford and St. Marks. There are several images of Governor Askew's inauguration in 1971; in attendance are Senator Lawton Chiles, Governor and Mrs. LeRoy Collins, Ralph Turlington, and Doyle Conner. There are also photos of U.S. Vice President Spiro Agnew visiting Tarpon Springs in 1969.
