The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     Created in 1996 by the Legislature, the Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development (OTTED), within the Executive Office of the Governor, assists the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Legislature to formulate policies and strategies designed to provide economic opportunities for all Floridians.  The Governor's Office of Film & Entertainment is the State of Florida's economic development program, under OTTED, for the development and expansion of the motion picture and entertainment industry sectors. The office of Film Commissioner was established during the 1999 Legislative Session to develop a five year strategic plan, develop a methodology for working with local entertainment industry promotional offices by providing services to the industries, and serve as liaison between government and the entertainment industry and labor interests.  Encompassed activities included attracting and promoting film and video production in Florida, facilitating access to filming locations, and marketing the state as an effective production center.


Summary:     This series consists of materials collected by the Florida Film Commission to assist them in developing legislation to promote the entertainment industry in Florida.  The Commission particularly focused on entertainment industry incentives and ideas for encouraging entertainment industry production companies to apply for approval by the Office of the Film Commissioner for tax exemptions.  The series includes senate and house bills, legislative documents and marketing information.
