Biographical/Historical:     Edith Everett Taylor (1905-1961) lived in St. Augustine, Florida. She graduated from the Florida State College for Women and Columbia University, and later became a writer and friend of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. Her father, A.M. Taylor was a local banker and Florida state senator. In 1933, she married Verle A. Pope, also a state senator.

    James Velma Keen (1899-1963) was a lawyer and state politician. After obtaining his law degree from the University of Florida, he practiced in Sarasota, Florida. Between 1927 and 1936, he served as State Attorney for the 27th Judicial Circuit, as a Representative of Sarasota County in the Florida State Legislature, and as Florida Assistant Attorney General. In late 1936, he moved to and opened a law practice in Tallahassee, which he maintained until his death.

Summary:     This collection consists of a portrait of Edith Taylor Pope and an image of J. Velma Keen.
