Biographical/Historical: *****DEACCESSIONED*****John M. McKee lived in Knoxville, Tennessee during 1863 to 1864.  George B. Gould lived in Rochester, New York in 1852.

    The diaries were in the possession of the Hawkins family of Monticello, Florida.  The McKee diary is from Mrs. Hawkin's family and the Gould diary was found in the Hawkin's home, which was formally owned by the Gould family.
Summary: *****DEACCESSIONED*****The collection contains photocopies of diaries of John M. McKee and George B. Gould.  The diary of John M. McKee contains entries from November 7, 1863 to December 31, 1864.  This diary contains McKee's description of Civil War activities in and around his home in Knoxville, Tennessee.  McKee was sympathetic to the Union and may have been a soldier in the Union army.

    The second diary belonged to George B. Gould of Rochester, New York.  This diary describes Mr. Gould's daily activities from january 1, 1852 to September 20, 1852.
