The Online Catalog allows searching and browsing of information about the Florida State Archives’ holdings of over 48,000 cubic feet of state and local government records and historical manuscripts. The catalog provides descriptions of over 3,400 collections and lists the contents of containers and folders in many of those collections. Biographical/Historical:     Neil Mooney was appointed in 1964 as Florida's first state art education consultant and led the project to develop art education programs for Florida schools.  Mooney was required to promote and develop art in Florida's schools and kindergarten through college teacher training.  During this time, Florida schools were held accountable  by accreditation standards, which were measured by content in each subject area.  Art standards were needed to meet these accreditation requirements.  Mooney obtained state funding, established guidelines, and called for bids to develop a state curriculum for art.  The final product of Mooney's research and development was "The Catalog of Art Objectives K-12."
Summary:     This series documents the research and development of art education programs in Florida by State Art Consultant Neil Mooney from 1964 through the 1980s.  The records consist of a wide variety of materials demonstrating the vast range of activities and responsibilities assigned to Neil Mooney, who was appointed in 1964 as Florida's first state art education consultant and who led the program development project.  The final product of Mooney's research and development was "The Catalog of Art Objectives K-12."  Materials in this series are the raw data from which the catalog was developed and include the original research materials, curricula, lesson plans, correspondence, and testing materials.
