In 1998, the Senate Committee on Children, Families and Seniors again became a standing committee with a permanent staff under the provision of Ch. 68-35, Laws. In 2003, the committee name was changed to the House Committee on Children, Families, and Elder Affairs. The Committee reviews legislation on child abuse,domestic violence, public welfare, elderly and indigent care, medical care, family services, and social services. From 1968 to 1973, this committee was known as the Senate Committee on Health, Welfare, and Institutions. From 1974 to 1995, this committee was known as the Senate Committee on Health and Rehabilitative Services. In 1996, the name of the Senate Committee on Health and Rehabilitative Services was changed to the Senate Committee on Children, Families and Seniors. In 1997, the name of the Senate Committee on Children, Families and Seniors was changed to the Senate Committee on Children and Families.
