Biographical/Historical:     The Southern Ferro Concrete Company formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1905. In 1935, Harold W. Beers led an employee buy-out, became CEO, and changed the company's name to Beers Construction Company. Under Beers' leadership, the company constructed churches, hospitals and schools throughout the Southeast, including Florida. The company changed its name again in 2002 to Skanska USA Building, Inc.

Summary:     This collection contains photographs taken by the Beers Construction Company that depict its construction projects in Florida. Most of the photographs document construction of the 1936 addition to the Florida Capitol building. Other images include the federal court house and a women's dormitory on the Florida State College for Women campus. In addition, there are a few images of buildings in the Gainesville, Florida, area.
